7 Grounding Techniques Every Event Coordinator Should Know

April 06, 20262 min read

Event coordination requires constant awareness, quick thinking, and the ability to handle pressure in real time. Not after chaos ensues...

What most people don’t realize is:

Your ability to perform well during an event is directly tied to how regulated your nervous system is. Like you don't have enough responsibility on your shoulders right?

You need something that works when you need it the most because you deserve to feel good and the event needs to be amazing! So...

Grounding techniques help you return to a state where you can think clearly, make better decisions, and stay calm, even when things aren’t going as planned.

Here are 7 grounding techniques you can use immediately.

Here are 7 Grounding Techniques You Should Know

1. Controlled Breathing

Slow inhale through your nose. Longer exhale through your mouth. This signals safety to your body.

2. Feel your feet on the Ground

Press your feet firmly into the floor. Feel your body stabilize.

3. Name 5 Things Around You

Bring your attention to your current environment. (Not the future or the past). This reduces mental overwhelm.

4. Shoulder Reset

Roll your shoulders back and release tension with intention. (I personally have to remind myself of this one too!)

5. Cold Water Reset

If you can run to the restroom: Run cold water over your hands or wrists. This interrupts stress quickly and grounds you naturally! Yay! You probably needed a second away anyway!

6. Micro Pause

Take 60 a second break to just pause with your eyes closed and focus on your breath.

7. Internal Check-In

Ask yourself: What do I need right now? Emphasis on the "I." Because we both know you put everyone before yourself already... Yeah, I see you.

Grounding doesn’t take time away from your event.

It gives you back your internal control.
